No family of speakers has our attention more than JBL’s selection of high-quality portable bluetooth speakers. Our personal favorite, out of all of them, is still the JBL Charge 3. It’s at or around the top of the list of all 3 of these categories:

Charges phones, tablets, and other devices
JBL’s first installment of the Charge Series came back in 2013. The extra feature that set it above the rest back then is still the feature that makes the Charge 3 one the of the hottest on the market. It can charge your, phone yet still has a big enough battery to give you hours of playback.
Waterproof
Another nice feature is the IPX7 waterproof rating. Take it to the beach, the pool, or tubing down the river without having to worry about water damage. It also floats so you won’t have to work too hard to retrieve it if it happens to go for a swim.
JBL Connect Compatible
Connecting 2 JBL Charge 3’s or any other JBL Connect Compatible speakers (Pulse 2, Xtreme, or Flip 3) will give you stereo playback. You can also upgrade the firmware for the speaker through the Connect app to make the Charge 3 a JBL Connect+ Compatible speaker. The extra “+” upgrade makes the Charge 3 compatible with the newer JBL Xtreme 2, Boombox, Pulse 3, and Flip 4. The added benefit is being able to pair up to 100 of these compatible speakers for multi-room or indoor/outdoor audio. Perfect for parties, dorms, or other multi-room applications. (The only drawback is that, after the upgrade, the Charge 3 will no longer pair with the older JBL Connect speakers the Pulse 2, Xtreme, or Flip 3.)
Conclusion
Any way you slice it, the JBL Charge 3 is the most well-rounded, portable Bluetooth speaker available. It’s big enough to bump yet small enough to pack easily, and the durability will make it your travel companion for years to come.
